Old Settings

My hard disk got crashed & I got a new one. I managed to copy the installation folder to the new hard disk. I've read the FAQs here & read that you can not get your old username back if you haven't used the application for over a month unless you have donated. I'm not sure if a month has passed by since I used soulseek (I have the NS version) but I want to know how to get my old settings back. That is, I want all my queue lists, members' list, wishlist etc back. There are a lot of config files in the installed folder but I was unable to save any file from C:/users/appdata folders. When I copy these files to the new installed soulseek, it either goes corrupt or still asks me for the new username. Should I provide my older one there? Which files should I copy to get my lists back?

for SoulseekQT the settings are located in:

C:\Users\XXXXXX\AppData\Local\SoulseekQt

XXXXX = your username account in Windows.

No, I meant NS one. If I install SoulseekNS on new hard disk, how would I get all my wishlists, members, queue etc. I have the installed folder saved from old hard disk.

I guess you will need to import/configure these things manually, because for now the only thing available is to import your "User List" only.

Yes, I wanted to know how I would do that & what files I would need to copy. Sorry for being such a noob. When I try to copy some files that I think are confg. ones, they corrupt my current installation.

configs can't be imported, you need to configure the new Soulseek from scratch, as I said above only the userlist can be imported to the new Soulseek.

I'm sorry, I'm again confused. Do you mean if there's an option from within SoulseekNS to import setting. I meant, if I copy files in installed folder manually, would it work? If so, which files do I need to copy over to new installation of SoulSeekNS to get members list & queue lists back. Sorry if I'm being annoying.

if you are going to use SoulseekNS only, then you have to know that "by default" in SoulseekNS the settings are stored in the registry, in the following path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Soulseek2

so if you want to save these settings you will need to save the registry entry.

other way to store the settings is not saving them in the registry, to do that you have to open the following in SoulseekNS:

Options -> General Options

and unselect the box that says "Save client data to the registry", and then the settings will be stored in:

C:\ProgramData\Soulseek

Oh, alright. Thank you very much. Highly appreciated : )
