Soulseek, Soulseek QT - Win8 Problem

caniborrowapencil's picture

Well my soulseek and soulseekQT were working fine and starting last weekend anytime I'd launch the client (either soulseek or QT) nothing would come up. I'd have the icon in the task bar, but nothing on the screen. I'd try and click the icon in the taskbar to bring up the window, but to no avail.

Anyone else having this problem or know a fix for this issue? Hope to figure it out soon seeing as I've been using this program since HS and

I LOVE IT.. AND MISS IT DEARLY

lol..

Thanks for the help guys.

Can you check in the task manager and see if Soulseek is running or not? Perhaps it's not running, or if it is, maybe something in task manager will show you if the program is not responding, locking up, or whatever.

Hi caniborrowapencil,

Any chance you could find the latest version of soulseek-client.dat.* on your computer (it's usually in the \Users\[username]\AppData\Local\SoulseekQt, and there should be three of them in there, if you sort by date you should see which is the last one) and send it to me via something like Dropbox? I suspect the window positioning information got screwed up somehow, and if so I need a configuration file exhibiting this problem in order to fix it. If you do share via Dropbox, please make sure to mail me the link privately so no one else can get at it.

Thanks, Nir

I am having the same problem as mentioned above by caniborrowapencil.
I try to launch Soulseek and can see the icon in the task bar but the
client window does not appear on the screen. I try and click the icon
to bring up the window but nothing happens. I first noticed this
yesterday morning.
I can launch SoulseekQt but prefer the old client. Can you help fix this problem for me?

Solved my problem by deleting the program and reinstalling.

So I uninstalled and reinstalled and the same issue is happening. I checked the Task Manager and it is indeed running. I have the latest version of SoulseekQT.

When I highlight the icon on the task bar it gives me a preview of what the program is doing and it looks like it is indeed running.

Maybe the window is just off the screen or something?

Sorry for taking a while to respond, I've been very busy lately preparing for next semester :-p

Edit: I reinstalled the NS version and it is working, so at least I have that. :D
