Hey Nir,

Are all members temporarily blocked from posting new content? I see this message now:

You are not allowed to post new content in the forum.

I assume it's due to the spam influx recently?

The forum is going all wonky anyway ATM...

For example: the last user post is NEVER shown correctly:

"By will9393 5 days 10 hours ago"

Wronger than wrong!

thescarletfire has posted recently, likewise have you, Nir ... that's just some hours ago (from now).
But definitely not 5 days ago as this hopelessly broken forum software is continuously trying to suggest.

Confirmed, I just realized I got the same message.

Crap, sorry about that. I could've sworn I've set the permissions so that trusted users can post. Either way I went the wrong way about it, should work now. Might be a Drupal update will fix the latest post issue... bah.

Yet another Drupal update, you mean ;-P

No kidding, seems like there's one every couple of weeks. Or alternately exactly five minutes after I give in and actually update.

This hasn't helped me at all

Could it be malware? I mean, I've never heard of an app like Soulseek timing out and just "closing" down. I would bet that it's something else going on here.

If it is I'll do a cleanup for my PC

I hate to say this, but it sounds like a problem in the client itself. Five minutes is about how long the client waits before it saves its data after launch, might be that the configuration save routine is crashing somehow. The client is a lot easier to debug on a Mac than a PC, but if you're interested we can give it a try.

Nir, would there be some sort of dialog box error pop up? Or would it simply 'close out' like it never opened?

That's a good point, one should technically get a dialog when it crashes. One surefire way to tell if it's crashing or not is to check the event log. darkpendantz, in Event Viewer, go to the Windows Logs->Application tab after the client closes. If it crashed there should be an error entry there with a red circle, in when you click it it should say whether it was SoulseekQt or not that crashed.

and how do you debug it on Windows?

It's very involved, I need to create a debug executable, then we need to install the MingW development tools, ideally by means of installing the Qt development framework on your computer. Once it's all set up actually running the client in the command line debugger is a little tricky. The easiest would be to do this over TeamViewer together. I would check the event log as outlined above just to make sure SoulseekQt is actually crashing.

Ah I see well I fixed the problem apparently I had malware and that was causing it to crash.. So I did a
virus scan detected about 7 malware items and I quarantined and had them delete and it solved the issue

Yup. Nailed it!
