Linux client starts, but does not connect

It starts up fine, and seems to check the user credentials just fine (when I put in a faulty password, it asks me to change). However no connection is made, and when I quit the client I get a popup saying:
"Login failed. Reported failure reason: socket error. Please change your
login settings in the Options tab and and try reconnecting."
I get no other error-messages.
I've tried builds 10-18, 11-5 and 11-8. Same thing.
I'm running PinguyOs 11.10 64bit (based on Ubuntu 11.10). Anyone had any success in connecting with similar specs?

It worked! It just decided to start working all of a sudden. I've changed nothing. Weird. But awesome! :D
