Why is SoulseekQt not open source?

SoulseekQt is honestly frustrating to use, but, as far as I know, it's the only Linux Soulseek client in active development. The client crashes a lot; when the client crashes, the downloads page often gets cleared; downloads tend to freeze; and the application seems to want to open a lot of files, which makes the application crash on Linux due to too many files being opened.

Sure, people could file bug reports, but filing a report and waiting for it to get fixed seems way more time consuming than letting people actually fix problems and submit patches (or pull requests) immediately.

I bet there are people out there who would love to help out.
