Can't open the SoulseekQt program

Yesterday and today I tried to open the SoulseekQt program from my computer (using Windows 10). It used to work always till a month ago when I used it for the last time. But now... it just doesn't react. I push on the logo to open, or used right mouse button "open", I reinstalled the program, still doesn't work.

Can anybody help?
Please.

Best,
Maarten

Hi Maarten
it seems that your config file(s) is damaged. Try it with another user account to verify the cause; then you could get infos to delete those config/backup files.

Hi,

Thanks for answering, appreciate it. You mean user account of Windows? It's only me using this comp. But well... maybe I can make another user account.

Hi Maarten
it doesn't matter if you only use it; just create another user with admin privilege and log in with this user; start SLSK (and it propably work instantly), then report back
CU

Soulseek did work when I logged in with another newly created account. So, what to do now? Seem I can easily fix this now if I know how.
Thanks again, appreciate your help a lot!

Best,
Maarten

Hi
there are a few more detailed infos for it in the forum.
In Short: search for "soulseek-client.dat*" Files in your profile folder (depending on your OS like C:\users\username) and rename or delete them. After that your SLSK is fresh (and clean) again and you could set your config again.
Cheers

Ok, I found 3 soulseek-client.dat files and deleted them all. SoulSeek still doesn't work. I uninstalled the programm, and reinstalled, still doesn't work. I can't find a (new created) soulseek-client.dat file on my computer now.
But.... "you could set your config again"? How?

Hi Maartenflip
as I stopped using SLSK about a month ago I have no reference here to compare or search in detail. Search in the forum for
"soulseek" and "dat" and U will surely find a more detailed version how to clear.
The Installer is very simple: create directory, copy files, create shortcuts, finished; there's no reg settings, cleaning or anything included. A simple uncompress the setup routine produces the soulseekqt.exe and that's all what it needs.
Another way is to rename the soulseekqt.exe to sth. else like soulseek1.exe and start it.
Cheers

ok, I tried some stuff and search the forums.... no success. It seems it is for me easier to just use the second Windows user instead of trying to fix the Soulseek file. So I'm using now my second account and Soulseek is working again.
Thanks for helping!

Hi Maarten
have you tried renaming the exe file?

Yes, I tried renaming the .exe file, also didn't work.

Hi
then it's more fundamental than the config files at start. Typ. U experience (with a defective user profile) a lot of strange behavior when the profile is defect, but anyway it's then easier to take the new profile and export/import your settings (browser, apps, ...) to your new flawless one and work with that in the future
